On June 11, 2021, the United States declared its acceptance of the Seychelles to the 1980 Hague Child Abduction Convention. The treaty will enter into force between the United States and the Seychelles on September 1, 2021.
The Seychelles did not appear in the 2021 U.S. Department of State Compliance report, meaning that no parent reported their child as taken from the USA to the Seychelles in 2020. It also did not appear in the 2020 or 2019 reports. Past Compliance reports may be found by clicking here.
The Seychelles did not complete its Country Profile for the 1980 Hague Child Abduction Convention. Country profiles are typically submitted to the Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, and provide a variety of useful details related to the treaty’s implementation in a country. Country Profiles can be found by clicking here.
The Seychelles has been a party to the treaty since 2008.
